But if we look at papers of Milind Desai on google scholar:

We can see that one of Desai’s papers which have been cited the most is:

«Variable accuracy of wearable heart rate monitors during aerobic exercise»

https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=1GmsQ1QAAAAJ&hl=de&oi=ao

authors:

Stephen Gillinov, Muhammad Etiwy, Robert Wang, Gordon Blackburn, Dermot Phelan, A Marc Gillinov, Penny Houghtaling, Hoda Javadikasgari, Milind Y Desai

publication date: 2017/8/1

journal:

Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise

This paper was very helpful for Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org:

  • To find out that consumer grade heart rate monitors are not suitable for for his scientific projects.
  • And Peter Gamma’s conclusion after studying papers about the accuracy of consumer grade optical heart rate monitors is , that they are not suitable to write papers with it in Nature, exept for the Apple watch.

Milind Y Desai published also papers about the apple watch

«Accuracy of Apple Watch for Detection of Atrial Fibrillation»

https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/full/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.119.044126

But to use the Apple watch for writing Nature papers is controversial:
