Do you know the OpenBCI community?

Last Updated on August 6, 2023 by pg@petergamma.org

We only recently discovered it. There is for instance a ranking of the posters:

https://openbci.com/community/people/

Leader among those is Shirley Zhang with 3820 posts. Before we found out that Shirley is the most active poster in the OpenBCI community, we only knew that she is responsible for repairing the OpenBCI WIFI shield, which she did’nt repair to this date. But fortunately, it can be found on ebay Switzerland:

Peter Gamma from the Meditation Research Institute Switzerland (MRIS) wrote 2039 posts in recent years, not all of those are about OpenBCI, only 256 have the tag OpenBCI. But this is still more posts than for instance Krisztian Hofstadter who wrote 240 posts in the OpenBCI community:

But Peter Gamma is not part of the OpenBCI community. One of the reasons is because he is frequently locked out of this community. We experienced similar problems in other communities, such as the Garmin Forum, in the 5KRunner blog, in the DC Rainmaker blog, the THIS IS ANT FORUM, the Matlab forum, the Bitalino Forum, and others.

That is why we decided to write our own blog, and made very good experiences with it. We often critizised thinks, wrote issues, complained about costs which are too high. But we found that other authors picked up our issues and resolved them which is great.

A recent issue is OpenBCI again. We had previously issues with other products as for instance sports sensors and how to access sports sensor data. Some of these issues have been resolved now thanks to many contributions of people which where very helpful. Other issues remain unresolved, as for instance heart rate monitor accuracy validation based on scientific studies.

We encorage everyone to start your own blog, your own YouTube channel and share what you want to share in your own information channel. We currently have some issues with www.OpenBCI.com, and this is for instance problems to find a comfortable EEG cap which is helpful for meditators, no WIFI shield from www.OpenBCI.com which means no community there. And also no compatibility with InfluxDB of OpenBCI modules.

We think that resolving these issues would make OpenBCI products much more attractive for many people. And we continue to share our problems and issues with it in our own journal and made good experiences with it and invite everyone to do the same. And we are hoping that the issues which we mention in our journal will be resolved sooner or later, and we thank everybody who is contributing to this process.
