Critisism about Prestons Hackaday project to join two OpenBCI Ganglion boards over ESP32 to get 8 channels to lower costs

Preston got a setup for streaming 8 channels by using two separate 4 channel OpenBCI Ganglion boards, connected to the ESP32 on the same SPI port but with different select lines. Prestons argument where lower costs than original OpenBCI modules.

But is this not a waist of time and money? Two Ganglion boards for 499.00 USD gives a total of 1000 USD. OpenBCI Cyton boards with 8 channel cable version can be bought on Aliexpress for 230 USD.

For us personally better would be to connect 8 channel Aliexpress Cyton boards to ESP32 to be able to connect it to Home Assistant without WIFI shield.
