Can the Texas Instruments ADS1299EEGFE-PDK evaluation kit used with third party software?

Last Updated on September 25, 2024 by pg@petergamma.org

We found papers which say the evaluation board can interface with Matlab. I went through the manual of the TI EEG board. But I could not find any information how to connect the board to thirt party software. How can I connect the ADS1299EEGFE-PDK to thirt party software like Matlab?

  • The ADS1299 EVM was primarily designed to operate with the TI based ADS1299 GUI.
  • It may be possible to interface to 3rd party software like Matlab
  • but you will need to develop your own firmware to control the EVM interface via Matlab.
  • TI will not be able to support you with your firmware / software development.

As you have pointed out, there are multiple researchers who have done this integration on their own effort.

Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org says to it:

As we mentioned previously, the ADS1299 is a great chip which allows in principle in daisy chain mode to build devices to 97 chips in daisy chain mode. This kit is currently the only hardware option we know which is stable on the market and affordable. And if we are interested in building EEG devices, it is eventually worth to have a closer look how difficult is to write your own firmware. But after a first search we did not find any firmware for the ADS1299 EVM somewhere in the web. The board is more than 10 years on the market. And if it would be easy someone whould have made it available, but we did not find anyone who did this.
