Another user reported to have issues with the «OpenBCI made in China» board in the www.openbci.com forum:
- The user bought OpenBCI made in China modules, but did not get it to work:
https://openbci.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/3815/aliexpress-cyton-knockoff-for-sale-200-obo
- It shows the WIFI version of OpenBCI made in China.
- The information which is given in the www.openbci.com forum contradicts information which can be found on www.petergamma.org
- Stellarpower from Scottland managed to get to work OpenBCI made in China, but it had issues as reported here:
- The main issue people do not manage to get the OpenBCI made in China boards to work seems lack of knowledge.
- The www.openbci.com forum does not support OpenBCI made in China.
- But Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org has put everything he knows about OpenBCI made in China unter this tag:
https://petergamma.org/tag/openbci_made_in_china
- The best chance to get it to work is with the WIFI version.
- Stellarpower from Scottland has intensively tested it.
- He got it to work, but he had issues with packed noise and cyclic noise spiking caused by the WIFI shield.
- He tested the software to resolve it, but not the hardware modification which is described here:
- and to remove C4 (100uF ceramic) and replace it with a >300uF electrolytic capacitor
- and not to use a ultra low ESR capacitor
- This has been tested in the www.openbci.com forum and has worked.
- The OpenBCI made in China boards with WIFI and 16 EEG channels which has issues which needs to be resolved is costs 700 USD.
- The OpenBCI Bluetooth version with 16 EEG channels costs from www.openbci.com is about 2 000 USD.
- Again OpenBCI made in China is not supported in the www.openbci.com forum.
- The www.openbci.com documentation is not updated for OpenBCI made in China.
- Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org has not tested OpenBCI made in China himself, but has only updated the documentation regarding OpenBCI made in China which cannot be found on www.openbci.com
If you are successful in repairing OpenBCI made in China please report it in the comments below

001f. Information for product sellers who do stock market speculation and scalping with products mentioned by Peter Gamma on www.petergamma.org
According to the little experience of Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org, many of the products listed here are still full of issues which need to be resolved. If you do stock market speculation and scalping with those, you will loose Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org as a buyer of these products and as a reviewer. Is this not risky? Will you not loose a majority of your costumers as well?
And is it not so, that society in general does not accept stock market speculation and scalping with products as those which are listed here? And will you not be politically incapable of finding a majority of the voters if you do stock market speculation and scalping with these products?
And as a consequence will you not be condemned and punished by a political referendum soon? Especially if you do this to a Swiss, since are not majority of Swiss against stock market speculations and scalping with people on a budget? And people in Switzerland are known for a lot of political referendums, since we have direct democracy in this country.
And Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org will fight up to the European Court of Human Rights against people who do stock market speculation and scalping with the products which are mentioned on www.petergamma.org. And if they do not have yet the legal basis there to do so, he will fight for it.
You don’t know what a scalper is?
A scalper is someone who buys something and resells it at a price far above the initial cost. For instance some says: “He got theater tickets through a scalper”: Someone who buys tickets to an event in order to resell them at a profit. And is it not also scalping if you take reviews from this site to make out of it a new product offers, and sell those for a higher price?
