According to Theravāda Buddhist monk Ajahn Amaro, in the the Buddhist tradition you are not completely sane until you are fully enlightened:

Unfortunately, it is not yet covered by health insurance companies to spent twelve years day and night with Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche as Matthieu Ricard did do become enlightened which is according to the Buddhist tradition equivalent to be completely sane, nor has it been investiged scientifically, nor is it processed by our society. Or to do the same with Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche successor Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche in the Sechen monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal where Yangsi lives:
