We are happy that there is an usb2 extension board available from Mango Pi extension, which eventually solves the problem with usb-c hubs and usb hats:
This could solve the problems Mango PI SBCs have with Debian or Armbian, or even get to get an OS installed with works on these devices.
But for some application it is better to have an usb-c connector or an usb3 hat, as for instance for
to connect hard drives
add an existing WiFi network
get rid of all cables but the power, as gounthar proposed and failed due to lack of usb-c support for the Mango Pi MQ quat:

an usb-c hub or an usb2 or usb3 hat can increase the number of applications for which a SBC can be used dramatically, as this example shows:
also adding an external SSD to boot from does this not only make sense if there is a usb-c hub or usb3 hat available which works?
