The Dreem 2 is not available anymore for the general public. Is Muse S an alternative? It is not validated clinically as sleep EEG device. I asked Rob ter Horst from the Quantified Scientist to compare it to validated EEG device.
Rob ter Horst is a data scientist and post-doctoral researcher at the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine in Vienna Austria. He also has a popular Youtube channel “The Quantified Scientist” where he thoroughly reviews consumer biotracking devices and shares his own quantified-self experiments.
Write to Rob ter Horst and ask him to review the Muse S. Rob says he is a scientist who is life-logging and quantifying everything about his body, mind and surroundings. The Muse S is part of his surroundings, therefore I suppose he will do the job:

When Rob ter Horst, PhD. reviews the device, this would be a first step to make out of the Muse device a scientific sleep tracker. The Muse is the world best selling EEG device. I think it is only a question of time until somebody implements a scientific sleep tracker on it.

Eventually, it is also possible to use Muse S in combination with Muse 1 or 2:

Muse S has 4 channel EEG as the Dreem 2 headband, which was a validated medical grade device (certified standard?). I suppose that the Muse S is as accurate as the Dreem 2 as far as the hardware is concerned, and therefore an affordable alternative to the Dreem 3, which is not available anyomore for the general public. A validation of the Muse S as far as accuarcy is concerned would be helpful.
