Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) developed by Zindel V. Segal is as effective as antidepressants in the treadment of depression

But unfortunately we do not know of Swiss medical doctors who suggest their patients MBCT as a treatment against depression instead of antidepressants – why not? Zindel V. Segal showed in the paper:

«Antidepressant monotherapy vs sequential pharmacotherapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, or placebo, for relapse prophylaxis in recurrent depression»:

that Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is as effective as antidepressants in the treadment of depression. This is discussed by Antoine Lutz at 17:20 in the following video:

Antoine Lutz is in Richard Davidson’s group, and was first author of this PNAS paper which was published in 2024:

Why do Swiss medical doctors not suggest MBCT? Is meditation or MBCT too little investigated?
