As we have discussed here:
the Neurosity Crown most probably consists of:
- an OpenBCI Cyton (with modified form factor)
- an OpenBCI WIFI shield (with modified WIFI shield form factor)
- a Raspberry Pi zero (2w) single board computer
As we discussed here, we could in principle also connect an OpenBCI Cyton over cable to a Raspberry Pi zero 2 w:
This saves some money. The OpenBCI Cyton cable version starts on Aliexpress or eBay from around 230 USD. How to connect OpenBCI Cyton over cable to a Raspberry Pi requires advanced hardware and software skills. There are people which already have connected OpenBCI Cyton over cable. You can find it in the www.openbci.com forum. If you choose the WIFI version on eBay or Aliexpress it is around 150 USD more.
OpenBCI modules which are sold on eBay and Aliexpress eventually have issues. You can find how to resolve those on www.petergamma.org. There are some WIFI shields which are labeled, «updated», «improved», «updated version which removes the bug of the original version». Unfortunately we do not have any confirmation of any users who know where we could buy a Wifi shield which does not have any issues, as well where we could by issue free OpenBCI modules on eBay and Aliexpress in general. We think the best way is try to repair those by yourself. And if you are successful we invite you to make a demo about it. Even if there would be issue-free OpenBCI modules on eEbay or Aliexpress, it is possible that these sellers send you modules with issues to sell their stocks.
