made a big effort to help users to access sensor data from sports watches. The Swiss Research Institute interested in clinical and research grade scientific studies of consumer grade sport sensors (no, no, we are only joking, for the time being we remain MEDITATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE SWITZERLAND (MRIS)). We repeat, the MRIS made a big effort to review the great work of our scientific friends and colleagues, how these great scientists helped us to access sensor data from sports watches.

But unfortunately, scientists from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio found out, that for speeds up to 15 km/h on the treadmill, a 3 lead-ECG is gold standard for HRM measurements:

Since our main interest is to study the effect of practicing meditation on physiological parameters, unfortunately we have to inform the sports watch manufacturers, that for our own specific application, 3 lead ECG devices are more suitable than sports watches.
