There is no SBC which was able to kill the Raspberry Pi 4:
We are currently looking for a single board Computer to run NextCloudPi on it. But which one to choose? A Raspberry Pi 4 with 2 GB Ram is around 70 USD from Digitec Switzerland. Accoring to the information which can be found in the web, the most affordable Single Board Computer (SBC) for running Nextcloud is the Orange Pi Zero 3 (4 GB):
Which costs arounc 80 USD from Aliexpress. So this is confusing information for Swiss costumers. We previously have chosen the Orange Pi 5 as the preferred platform. But the problem with it can only be bought directly from China. Usually Swiss sellers don t sell Orange Pi s. Because nobody needs those.
As nobody seems to need Raspberry Pis as Jeff Jeerling has said it as well:
But our choice are used devices which can be found on Ricardo Switzerland, as well as on Ebay.
Because nobody needs Raspberry Pis. And then they are sold again. Used devices can be tested and send back if they are faulty. But SBCs bought in China are often not worth it to send back. And we have ofen received faulty devices from China. Was this exactly for this reason? But we won t use the latest Rasperry Pi which is the Raspberry PI 5, because of bad experiences during the Raspberry Pi shortage. And we only use Raspberry Pi s temporarlily. Since sooner or later we will replace it by another platform. Since used devices is a situation which is not very satisfying for us personally.
What would Swiss companies have done in the sitation of Raspberry Pi Inc? Would Swiss companies not have stopped selling single board computer for private users? Would we then not have the Orange Pi 5 in the stores in Switzerland? But do do not have this single board computer there.
We only have a situation which is not very satisfying for Swiss costumers.
