- Shortly after we asked Rob ter Horst, why he does not use a research or medical grade ECG device, which are for instance listed here:
- as reference devices for his studies, Rob published a review about the Polar H10 chest strap on his YouTube channel:
- Where he concluded, that the Polar H10 has the “best heart rate!”
- This contradicts findings of the group of Dr. Milind Desay from Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where they found, that the most accurate device is their 3 lead gold standard for HR measurement device.
- Dr. Milind Desai published his studies in high quality scientific journals.
- Rob published his review on his YouTube channel with 177 000 subscribers.
- The paper which Rob reviewed is based on a Paper by the Swiss Federal Institute of Sports in Magglingen in Switzerland. The paper was partly funded by Polar. Or the whole study? Check it yourself:
Also Rob ter Horst is partly funded by Polar through advertising revenues.
Was the review about the Polar H10 also published at the request of Polar? We do not know. But if Rob ter Horsts promotes the Polar H10 as a 90 USD miraculous highly accurate gold standard single lead ECG chest strap reference device, Rob ter Horts friends at Polar compensate him as a YouTube contractor and pays him per views over YouTube.
- We doubt about the miraculous highly accuracy of the 90 USD Polar H10 chest strap:
Rob ter Horst is Postdoctoral Researcher at the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine:

It is incomprehensible to us personally why Rob ter Horst does not test his devices on his YouTube channel at the level of his academic research, and ignores papers of the group of Dr. Milind Desai from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. We are convinced that Rob knows Dr. Desais studies.
- Here we list some issues we have with Rob ter Horst, and also some suggestions, how the issues could be solved:
