- If Softmaker Office works in an Anbox or another virtualbox on the Pinephone, we will go back to the Linux Pinephone. We have put it on the screed after we have tried for a month to install LibreOffice on it, and we got it working, but it was buggy. There was a supporter who knew that another version of LibreOffice works better, but we have let it be.
Reason to buy or not to buy a Pinephone:
- It allows read/write to the external SD card, which can be sticked into our PC, what we could do via USB with our Android phone before Google prevented this.
- The Pinephone as an Ethernet adapter which is used by Pinephone users and they report that it works, and there are user reports about it in the Pinephone forum. Warning, the Ethernet adapter does as far as we know not work with all Pinephone distros.
- With Ubports phones, it is not possible to write to the external SD card freely.
- We do not know if Ubports phones support an Ethernet adapter.
- The Pinephone has a high-quality keyboard with large keys. Warning: the Pinephone keyboard does as far as we know not work with all Pinephone distros.
- Sooner or later we will go to the screed and and take down our Pinephone and test these features. If they work, we will go back to the Pinephone and avoid products from Google as much as possible.
- If we have already a Pinephone on the screed, we at least can take it down to test if Softmaker Office works in an Anbox on it.
