Which Arduino to choose among the many Arduino models which suck?

I was looking for an Arduino review which does not suck. But is there one? Countless Arduinos and countless models? The Arduino of our joice is the Arduino someone already has chosen for a project.

Are we at the point where there is for every device there is a special Arduino? Does this not suck? Electronics engineering has become so sophisticated that every device for Swiss costumers are hand made in China?
