A Generally Accepted Building Block for All or Many EEG Devices and other Physiological Sensors?

There are so many EEG devices available. We said that before, but we think it is a solution which is very illuminating. We are promoting the idea of using the OpenBCI Cyton board with the Wifi shield as a basic building block for EEG devices with any number of EEG channels. Wifi Shield and OpenBCI Cyton board can be bought on Aliexpress for less than 400 USD.

Sensor data from multiple OpenBCI Cython board can be streamed into InfluxDB over the Wifi shield synchronosly. How this is can be done is a job for ingenieers, but it should not be too difficult. Eventually a hardware change on the Cyton board is necessary to get all the parameters, according to William Croft from OpenBCI.

With this basic building block and further physiological sensors, like heart rate sensors, respiration rate sensors or data from respiration rate estimation algorithms, temperature sensors etc., sensor data can be streamed into a single InfluxDB, which is the basis for further data analysis. Such an architecture can strongly reduce the costs of EEG devices and of physiological hardware and software.
