Respiration rate is a key parameter for practicing breath meditation. Respiration rate can be measured for instance by Garmin Fenix watches, and the algorithms are as far as we know from Firstbeat.
But according to our own litte experienc, the accuracy of the respiration rate of these watches is very low, and needs to be calibrated.
For respiratory rate estimation for instance in Matlab, there are data sets available to calibrate the respiration rate. We do not have any options to calibrate the respiration rate on Garmin watches.
It is as if we had a Garmin watch which an inaccurate foot pod, and there is no option available to calibrate the foot pod.
Also not being able to export the respiration data from a Garmin watch to Strava, is as if we had no option to export the data from a foot pod to Strava. This is very unsatisfying, and needs to be updated.
