Current research topics at the Meditation Research Institute Switzerland (MRIS) – How to repair the OpenBCI Wifi shield

But Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org had other problems today than welfare supported people and Police cars who chase him in the city of Zurich:

And that is: What issues does OpenBCI has so that it cannot be used for physiology, and especially cannot be used to monitor fast gamma brain waves?

Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org is interested in fast high frequency gamma waves. And OpenBCI without a Wifi shield, but with only slow Bluetooth transmission is an issue for us personally.

The OpenBCI Wifi shield is not available anymore from www.openbci.com:

But modules can be found on eBay and Aliexpress

Some of those have issues. Stellarpower from Scottland tested this, and reported about these issues. But there are instructions available how to resolve these issues.

We do not know of anybody who bough OpenBCI modules on eBay and Aliexpress, who reported that they are free from issues. Products from www.openbci.com are free from issues. But they do not offer a Wifi shield. We can buy this Wifi shield on eBay and Aliexpress. And is the Wifi shield not one of the simplest components of OpenBCI? So if we manage to repair the Wifi shield, we can make out of OpenBCI modules a product which is also interesting for physiologist to further test it. This has aleady been tested in at least two papers. In one paper, OpenBCI was tested for neuropysiolgical research with a Wifi shield. And in another paper OpenBCI was tested for heart rate variability. If we manage to repair the Wifi shield, then there is no reason for the moment to change to a architecture which is based on InfluxDB for the moment. An architecture which is much more complicated to handle than OpenBCI.
