Smartwatches to not fullfill the requirements of gold standard for heart rate measurements, which are:
- A three lead (or 3 channel) ECG device
- The Mason-Likar electrode placement
- ECG-based HR has to be determined by visual assessment of a trained research personnel.
If these requirements are not full-filled, it has to tested if the smartwatches deliver reproducable and accurate data. So how to proceed?
- Let Rob ter Horst test the smartwatches on YouTube:
An refer to a paper of the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen SFISM:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31004219/#full-view-affiliation-1
2. Then Peter H Charlton can write a paper with those:

3. Then Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org can doubt about all the scientific data which has been published, since those have not been reproduced by other scientists.
4. And finally, the next scientist can test the smartwatches with a Schiller ECG treadmill for the next accracy tests:
with the protocol used by the Cardiologists of the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio:
