The finding that 3 channel ECG devices are gold standard is based on mathematical calculations and scientific findings:
To choose 3 channels to measure respiration rate is arbitrary.
But we suggest it to do it all the same with the respiration sensors described on this page which are already well established and tested. And we suggest then to test the following setup to find out if it is highly accurate, robust and suitable for your application. And if so to validate it with a research or medical grade device which is well established.
Channel 1: Peter Charltons Matlab Respiratory Extimation Toolbox:
https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/55289-respiratory-rate-estimation
- Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org invites you to run it in Octave and control it from there with Python scripts which should be possible.
- But first check if there are some legal issues with it, and if so choose another option
Respiratory rate estimation in Python:
Channel 2: BIOSIGNALS PLUX Inductive Respiration (RIP) Sensor for 800 USD:
- Is there more to it than the «Respiratory Heart Rate Piezoelectric Sensor Nursing Home Hospital Smart Mattress Breathing Belt Sleep Belt to monitor respiration rate» which can be bought for 70 USD on Aliexpress?
- It is, but what is more to it, can we build it not by ourselves as well?
- This sensor belt is very sensitive.
- We previously have discussed it under www.peteramma.org.
BIOSIGNALS PLUX Respiration (PZT & RIP) Analysis Add-on for 500 USD:
- Is there more to it than we find under Matlab & respiration?:
- If not Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org invites you to port it to Python.
- But first check if there are some legal issues with it, and if so to find a solution to solve this problem.
Channel 3: iWorx Spirometry
- Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org owns a suitcase with an iWorx channel recorder since years, but never uses it.
- He bought it used before he knew that gold standard for HR measurement requires 3 channels.
- But unfortunately, his iWorx recorder has only 2 ECG channels.
- He searched trough his whole iWorx suitcase today. It has many sensor in there, but unfortunately there was no spirometer in his suitcase.
- So Peter bought today a second used iWorx suitcase with another 2 channel iWorx recorder which contains a Spirometer:
iWorx offers their own Spirometric Measurements software:
- But is there more to it than we found under Matlab & respiration?:
- If not Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org invites you to port it to Python.
- But first check if there are some legal issues with it, and if so, find an appropriate solution.
- iWorx offers an example how to connect iWorx recorders to Matlab. This example most probably runs also in Octave, and Octave can be controlled with Python scripts.
- But if we find out on which pins the signal of the spirometer is, we can do without the iWorx recorder and attach the spirometer directly to PiEEG. We eventually get the information about the pins from the iWorx support. iWorx has a lot of different spirometers, they start at about 500 USD. Other spirometers with usb port which can be found in the web start from more than 1000 USD.
Information for product sellers who do stock market speculation and scalping with the products mentioned by Peter Gamma on www.petergamma.org.
According to the little experience of Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org, many of the products listed here are still full of issues which need to be resolved. If you do stock market speculation and sculping with those you will loose Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org as a buyer of these products ans as a reviewer. Is this not risky? Will you not loose the majority of your costumers as well? And does society in general not accept stock market speculation and scalping with products as those which are listed here? And will you not be politically incapable of finding a majority of the voters if you do stock market speculation and sculping with the products listed here? And as a consequence will you not be condemned and punished by a political referendum soon? Especially if you do this to a Swiss, since are not majority of Swiss against stock market speculations and sculping with people on a budget. And people in Switzerland are known for a lot of political referendums, since we have direct democracy in this country. And Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org will fight up to the European Court of Human Rights against people who do stock market speculation and sculping with the products which are listed under www.petergamma.org. And if they do not have yet the legal basis, he will fight for it.
