The Swiss Police searched trough the whole house of the Meditation Research Institute Switzerland (MRIS) – what to do if this happens once more?

  • A house, an apartment or another room that is not generally accessible may only be searched with the consent of the authorized person.

(Art. 244 Abs. 1 StPO)

  • This consent is not necessary if it is suspected that wanted persons are present in these rooms, that there are traces of crime or objects or assets to be confiscated, or that criminal offenses are being committed

(Art. 244 Para. 2 StPO).

The latter is about catching criminals in the act. To do this, the public prosecutor must order a house search.
