Albert Hofmann was a Swiss chemist, author and the discoverer of LSD. Hofmann worked for Sandoz in Basel for more than four decades until his retirement in 1971

  • He has been awarded honorary doctorates several times for his scientific work.
  • The ETH Zurich, together with his brother-in-law Gustav Guanella, honored him on the same day in 1969 with the title of Dr. H. C. the ETHZ.
  • To mark the 50th anniversary of the first LSD ban in California, the Basel Sinfonietta performs the oratorio Oh Albert! on.[12]
