The Dreem 2 headband was first offered for 500 USD which was expensive for a 4 channel EEG device:
- And then the Dreem 2 was not available anymore for private users and offered for 1 400 USD to scientists like us. But the product seemed to be not much of a success, since the company went bankrupt soon after that, and then was taken over by another company.
- PiEEG was not available anymore shortly after it has been released. And altough it is a product which is interesting for us personally, we are not ready to pay 10 000 USD for it.
- In general new products based on the ADS1299 EEG chip from Texas Instruments such as HackEEG are interesting for personally, and have been sold successfully to researchers or students who do neuroscience research at Stanford and Harward.
- These are research institutes at the highest level such as the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich which is among ot the top universities in the ranking of universities as well. Products such has HackEEG and PiEEG attract some of the smartest researchers in the world.
- But pulling these products from the market shortly after they have been introduced with the goal to create again a new product for a higher price leads to constant negative feedback from the smartest people in the world.
- And the only thing HackEEG and PiEEG can do after what they have done to their users is to look for hobbists who do not know anything about the history of these products.
- We are interested in these products, but where are those hobbists who write, we miss Hack and PiEEG and we are ready to pay 10 000 USD for it if it comes back?
- A procedure such as that of HackEEG and PiEEG lead to constant negative feedback from us, and eventually also from other scientists at the highest level such as those from Standford and Harward.
And if your goal is negative feedback to kill these products, go for it.
But if your goal is a new and interesting product for people who work at research institutes such as Sandford and Harward or the Swiss Federal Insitute of Technology in Zurich, a product which is finally something new and interesting 10 years after products from www.OpenBCI.com have been released, sell a PiEEG made in China for 230 USD.
And then you eventually receive positive feedback from scientists from Sandford, Harward or the Swiss Federal Insitute of Technology in Zurich, but not if endless decoy offers are sold which will be pulled from the market soon after they have been released.
