She is an author, teacher and founder of a nunnery in in India.

We found the report that Tenzin Palmo lived 12 years in a cave in the biography of Jean-Louis Astoul alias Karta Singh alias Satyavrati Yogi:

She has spent twelve years living in a remote cave in the Himalayas, three of those years in strict meditation retreat. In 1976 Tenzin Palmo commenced living in a cave in the Himalayas measuring 10 feet wide and six feet deep and remained there for 12 years. In accordance with the protocol, she never lay down, was sleeping in a traditional wooden meditation box in a meditative posture for just three hours a night. The last three years were spent in complete isolation. She survived temperatures of below −30°F (−35°C) and snow for six to eight months of the year.

We previously published the hypothesis in our journal that around 13 years of full-time training are necessary to be able to gain happiness independenty of the outer world. Or scientifically spoken, to be able to increase the gamma wave activity in the left prefrontal cortex independently of the outer world. We formulated this hypothesis from the reports of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche wo spent 13 years in solitary retreat meditating until he wanted to stay there for the rest of his life.

But we do not know how well the data we mentioned are documented historically and also if there are any witnesses who confirmed all of these data independently.
