Comment of the MRIS:
The paper uses the WHOOP 2.0, but the latest device is WHOOP 4.0
Discussion
«This study evaluated agreement between PPG assessment of HR and HRV by a wearable biosensor (WHOOP 2.0) and gold-standard assessment via ECG.»
Sleep Stage Identification
«Cardiac activity was assessed via two ECG electrodes (left-positive and right-negative) recorded using the afore mentioned (?) Grael PSG system»
Comment of the MRIS:
The Grael PSG system which is also sold by Neurospec Switzerland can be used for EEG and ECG:

Conclusion
«A wearable biosensor (WHOOP 2.0) demonstrated acceptable agreement in HR via PPG assessment compared with gold-standard assessment via ECG.»
Conflicts of Interest
«Dean J. Miller’s (co-author of the paper) position as a Research Officer at Central Queensland University is currently sponsored by WHOOP Inc.—the company that produces the wearable monitors that were used in this study. «
Comment of the MRIS:
- Gold standard for ECG is 3 channel ECG, but the paper mentions “Cardiac activity was assessed via two ECG electrodes”
- The Whoop strap is number two in Rob ter Horst controversial ranking of the “best scientific health devices”
- Is this paper as scientific confirmation published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal of Rob ter Horsts statements? We do not know of any evidence for this.
