We have suggested to install postmarketOS edge phosh on the Pinephone in this table:

for the reason we have indicated there. We are happy about the instruction from TechHut how to install an OS on the Pinephone:

We used it as our installation method several times and it works great. We had postmarkedOS stable on our Pinephone where we installed Abiword and Gnumeric.
We would like to store Abiword and Gnumeric files on the external SD card of the Pinephone and edit those files there. Then we can pull out the SD card from the Pinephone and stick it into our desktop PC, where we have installed Abiword and Gnumeric as well, where we can work with our files on our PC.

We had a similar solution with our Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android 4.4. But with newer versions of Android it was not possible anymore to write files to the exernal SD card of Android phones with for instance Softmaker for Android.

Alaraajavamma from the Pine64 forum writes that she installed the Nautilus file explorer on Postmarket OS Phosh Edge on here Pinephone and it works perfectly.

This solves the problem we described in the Pine64 forum.

We currently have PostmarkedOS stable on our Pinephone and want to flash Postmarket OS Phosh Edge onto it, which is available here for download:

We first downloaded the installer version and flashed it onto our Pinephone according to the instruction of TechHut. But when we wanted to boot up our Pinephone it did not do anything. Did we break it?
We flased it a second time and checked if Balena Etcher has flashed the file correctly, which we skiped the first time.
Now our Pinephone booted up, but stuck during the installation process.
Then we have downloaded the Postmarket OS Phosh Edge image version without installer and flashed it onto our Pinephone.

After the installation our Pinephone booted normally and it runs now postmarketOS Phosh Edge.

Now you can try to resolve the issue described here which requires a Pinephone running postmarketOS Phosh Edge:
