Are PPG smartwatches interesting for other scientists than Rob ter Horst?

If we watch the reviews of the smartwatch accuracy testers like Rob ter Horst, do we not expect that these PPG watches become more and more accurate, and are highly accurate today? But we do not find any evidence for this in scientific papers.

Is it not a reality, that cardiolologists, physiologists and sports scientists lost their interest in these devices, since they do not fullfill the high expecations smartwatch testers rise? Do not ECG devices with 3 channels have reached the highest accuracy which is technically possible, if they are properly used? And these device have become very affordable, and do not cost much more than a smartwatch.

Has someone ever delivered a convincing proof, that PPG devices can compete with 3 channel ECG devices as far as accuracy is concerned? If scientists deliver us this proof, we will come back to this topic. Or also if scientists show us in high quality papers that scientists can do something interesting with PPG smartwatches. But before this proof is not there, for which scientists are these devices of interest, exept for Rob ter Horst to reach a lot of views on YouTube?
