Altough the Wifi shield is not available anymore from www.OpenBCI.com , scientists use it for experiments and write papers in which they use it:

The authors are from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Manizale, South America
After a first look, we sah that the paper shows many figures.
But did not find a proof that they had a WIFI shield which is issue-free.
Others had this setup with issues, as for instance Stellar Power from Scottland
