  • According to Robert Oostenveld the connectivity of the Cyton board with the Cyton Bluetooth dongle is not so stable, sometimes it requires multiple attempts to connect, resetting the board, and replugging the dongle.
  • Connection is easier over the WIFI shield.
  • With the OpenBCI WIFI shield, the OpenBCI board can be connected to the WIFI of your router.
  • It is the same WIFI shield for Ganglion and Cyton.
  • The WIFI shield is not available anmore from www.OpenBCI.com
  • Cyton with WIFI can be bought from this seller, the product is according to the description issue-free:

  • The OpenBCI WIFI shield hardware was developed by Neurosity CEO and computer scientist A.J. Keller.
  • We suppose that the Neurosity Crown is based on an OpenBCI Cyton with WIFI shield.
  • The Bluetooth and WIFI transmission rate for EEG devices is a bottle neck. For instance the Epoc Flex 32 EEG headset must be connected over an usb cable, and not over WIFI. For WIFI transmission of the 32 EEG channels of the Epoc Flex 32 the WIFI bandwith is too low.
