- a Raspberri Pi zero w2 with Raspberry Pi OS:
- A Raspberry Pi 4 running Fedora:
- Fedora does not run fast on the Raspberry Pi, but it is still our favorite distribution, from which we think it has a bright future. We do not want to change the distro all the time and want to stick to Fedora as much as possible.
- A PinePhone with PostmarkedOS:
The Pinephone keyoard is supported with PostmarketOS. pmOS in general allows to write to the external SD card, but as far as we know for instance not all UBports phones. Android phones do not allow to write your personal data to the external SD card anymore to use it for data exchange with a PC. pmOS Linux phones are able to do this.
We can find a remote desktop solution as for instance VNC client and server to control your Pinephone from your PC, which does not require an expensive import from a specialized Pine64 adapter from the US.
A network shared folder from a Pinephone to a desktop PC requires advanced coding skills. If you want to do it, you can find the information in the Pine64 forum.
- A LattePanda V1 to install a x86 Home Assistant image on it which allows an easy editing of .yaml files.
– If you are a skilled coder, you can create a Raspberry Pi 4 image, which can also do this.
- A deskop PC with Fedora
- buy one of these devices and install Fedora on it:
Important notice:
- the devices described in the video above are not very powerful and don t have beefy video cards
- If you need a powerful device, choose another option as those described in the video.
- We decided to use Fedora preferentially, the video compares Fedora to other Linux distros.
- Choose Python instead of Matlab, Python does not run on all of these platforms (Matlab does not run on the Raspberry Pi zero w 2 and the PinePhone and on ARM based platforms, we do not know of a satisfying solution for this). The risk with Matlab is that a Matlab supporter deletes all your posts in the Matlab forum.
