Are Matthieu Ricard (*1) and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche (*2) guiding stars and spiritual teachers, which we all can follow, or are they only best-selling authors?

Both come from families which are rich and/or famous. But can people from families which are not famous or rich follow those? Both wrote books which are best-selling books. But are they really the authors of new ideas? Both have sold many books, but do they also live what they write in their books, or do they only write about it? And did they have their own genuine ideas, or did they just take over ideas which were popular in other books into their own books? And are these ideas from self-experienced people which can be reproduced? Reproduced by reading their books, and use them as manuals what to do? Can they also be used by scientists to do research on this, and confirmed by those? And are their ideas practical ideas which can be implemented by everyone? Is it possible for everyone to have a result from training to be happy? A result which cannot only be measured in a brain scanner, but we do experience by ourselves? And are those ideas they write in their books experiences from guiding stars which are very rare, but very rarely reproduced?
Unfortunately, we do not know the answer of many of those questions. Did scientists also do research on those questions, and are there scientific answers to those questions which are convincing to everyone? And are Matthieu Ricard and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoches guiding stars and spiritual teachers, or are they only best-selling authors?

(*1) Matthieu Ricard says he is not a spiritual teacher, Matthieu says he is a Buddhist monk, humanitarian, author, photographer and french translator of the Dalai Lama the 14.

(*2) Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche is a Tibetan teacher and master of the Karma Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism:
