Have the courage to use your own understanding!’ is the motto of the Age of Enlightenment.
Sapere aude is the Latin phrase meaning “Dare to know”; and also is loosely translated as “Have courage to use your own reason”, “Dare to know things through reason”, or even more loosely as “Dare to be wise”.
Originally used in the First Book of Letters (20 BC), by the Roman poet Horace, the phrase Sapere aude became associated with the Age of Enlightenment, during the 17th and 18th centuries, after Immanuel Kant used it in the essay, “Answering the Question: What Is Enlightenment?” (1784).
The phrase is widely used as a motto, especially by educational institutions.

If we look at the Science meets Dharma Project of the Tibetan Institute in Rikon Switzerland, initiated by the 14 Dalai Lama:
we ask ouselves:
Has this project not jet reached the Age of Enlightenment? Or in other words. Are the project initiators enlightened, and also the funders? Does the Dalai Lama 14 th deside everthing concerning this project? And is he also to blame for everything? Do no persons involved in this project have the courage to use their own reason, and dare to know things through reason, and dare to be wise?
The Dalai Lama: a title given by the Mongols in the 16th century to him meaning “Ocean of Wisdom”. But dare to be wise yourself and independently of the Dalai Lama.
